Asthma Child Care Resources

We are pleased to share the following resources from our partners with you and hope you can use them within your organization.

Caring for Children with Chronic Conditions

Head Start

One of a series of Head Start National Training Guides, this The ABCs of Safe and Healthy Child Care guide is intended to build staff capacity to make Head Start a safe and welcoming place to learn and play for children with chronic conditions. It outlines best practices for children with special health needs and specific Head Start implications, with a particular focus on allergies and asthma. It builds on the key concepts that Head Start staff must work with the family and health care providers to ensure that the care of the child with asthma is family-centered, individualized, safe, and legal. Activity sheets, sample forms, and case scenarios provide clear and practical tools to adapt this training to other child care sites.

You can view the training guide online at: http://www.headstartinfo.org/publications/children_cc/ccccont.htm.
