An Achievable New Year's Resolution for Heart Healthy Living
Perhaps you have made a resolution to be healthier in 2009. You may find that making the resolution is the easy part. But how can you successfully reach your heart healthy living goals this year? Here are several you can do to follow through on your plans:
- Instead of pledging to "exercise more," set smaller, specific goals such as engaging in 30 minutes of physical activity at least five days a week.
- Reward your successes. Would a special outing motivate you? Build that into your goals.
- Talk about your goals with family and friends and get their support.
- Find health planning tools to stay focused and on track.
The NHLBI has two tools that can help, the Keep the Beat 2009 Calendar and Cookbook. The calendar offers space for heart healthy goal setting and is a great tool to keep you focused on a daily basis. The cookbook contains delicious recipes that prove that what’s good for your heart is great for your taste buds!
Order both tools together, item #KT-033 at http://emall.nhlbihin.net/product2.asp?sku=KT-033
for ONLY $10.00
