Subject: Asthma Continuing Education Opportunity
The National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) coordinated by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health, offers free, high quality continuing education to health care professionals through the Internet.
1. Diagnosis and Management of Asthma (CME)
The NAEPP's "Expert Panel Report 2 (EPR-2): Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma" represents state-of-the-art recommendations developed by a panel of asthma experts. These guidelines are the source of information for two continuing medical education (CME) courses. The CMEs are offered at no charge by Cine-med, Inc. Each course is accredited for up to 4 hours of Category 1 credit of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.
These CME courses and the Cine-med Web site offer an exciting opportunity for you to study the NAEPP Guidelines and explore related resources. These courses are part of the NAEPP's continuing efforts to enhance the quality of life of asthma patients and their families. For more information, and to take the courses, point your browser to http://hp2010.nhlbihin.net/emails/ascme.htm.
2. Asthma Management in Minority Children: Practical Insights for Clinicians, Researchers, and Public Health Planners(CHES)
In 1989, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute funded five projects under a 5-year program--"Interventions for the Control of Asthma Among Black and Hispanic Children." This document provides a mechanism for sharing the experiences of the five investigators in developing asthma management interventions; it does not contain study results. This information, along with detailed information about study methodology, was published independently by investigators.
Certified health education specialists (CHES) may receive 2 credit hours in category 1 by reading the Guide and completing a quiz. To read the report and take the quiz, point your browser to http://hp2010.nhlbihin.net/emails/as1.htm.
