Subject: Upcoming Cardiovascular Health Summit in New York City!

We want to call to your attention an exciting conference that will be held in New York City on February 2-3, 2001. "Regional Cardiovascular Health Summit: A Unique Conference for Purchasers, Providers and Public Health Practitioners" is sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the New York State Department of Health, the Island Peer Review Organization (IPRO), and Aon Consulting/Actuarial Sciences Associates, Inc. (ASA).

The focus of the conference revolves around best practices for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease (CVD), and the keynote address for the conference will be delivered by David Satcher, M.D., the Surgeon General of the United States.

Dr. Satcher's presentation will be preceded by a panel that includes Lynn A. Smaha, M.D., Immediate Past President of AHA, and George Mensah, M.D., Director of the Cardiovascular Health Branch at the Centers for Disease Control. The other presenters at the conference include many nationally renowned researchers who will address issues such as the treatment of obesity, the importance of systolic blood pressure, women and heart disease, physical activity, the implications of genetic research on CVD treatment, and peripheral artery disease management. The closing address will be made by noted television personality Regis Philbin, who is a fervent heart health advocate.

The conference will be held at the Millennium Broadway Hotel and Hudson Theater in downtown Manhattan. Group registration rates are available, and continuing education credits are available for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists.
