At the kick-off, we will release our 150-page report, Kentucky Women's Health 2002: Data, Developments and Decisions, the most comprehensive health report on Kentucky women to date. We have compiled and analyzed data from public and mental health sources, aging offices, maternal health programs, and rural health centers to form a composite profile of women's health throughout various stages in life. Copies will be available free to the public by contacting our office or in PDF format on May 1, 2002.
We will continue to raise awareness of the unique health needs of women, as well as, those conditions and illnesses that men and women may have in common, such as heart disease, but which present differently in women and men. Often I am asked, "Why an office for women's health?" Our efforts are not to put women's health needs above men or children, but rather to raise awareness of those issues especially important to women.
