    Project Objective:
To establish an infrastructure to support the national launch of Hearts N’ Parks through recreation and park departments in partnership with other community organizations.

    Project Rationale:
Due to the alarming increases in overweight and obesity in adults and children, this project will take the "lessons learned" from the Hearts N' Parks pilot project conducted in 12 community sites in North Carolina and create a national program of Hearts N' Parks cities across the country. The intent of the project is to raise awareness and increase understanding regarding the need for children, adolescents, and adults to gain skills related to increased physical activity and heart-healthy eating and to implement appropriate programs through regional park and recreation departments and other community partners.
